Does what it says on the tin. This week’s playlist is an unruly jumble of bangers to enjoy as we head into a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK. Many of these are NSFW so, yes, be warned.
This week kicks off to a rocky start (sorry for the pun) with Celebrity Skin, by Hole. This is followed by the electro classics Out of Space, by The Prodigy and Rock the House, by Gorillaz.
Up next is the effortlessly cool Brothers On The Slide, by Cymande and BEST INTEREST, by Tyler, The Creator. Groove Armada then brings the hype with Get Down (feat. Stush & Red Rat).
As a nod to our different offices we have a London themed song next followed by a German one. As a Londoner, London Bridge, by Fergie always makes me laugh (although let’s not talk about them using Tower bridge not London bridge in the video) and OMG!, by Materia makes a fun German addition to the playlist.
No banger list would be complete without a visit from the biggest boy band in the world, BTS. Here their 2015 breakthrough hit Run pairs up with pop goddess, Ariana Grande’s, Promise. Perfect for dancing around your kitchen to (dashi, run, run, run).
Taking a sharp left turn we head into the head banging duo of Paranoid, by Black Sabbath and Killing in the Name, by Rage Against the Machine. Some trivia for you: this 90’s anti-establishment anthem made it to Christmas Number 1 in the UK in 2009 in part as a backlash to the ‘manufactured’ pop of the time. There’s lots of swearing in this one; I’m not sure if they ever got to play it in full on the radio.
Finishing off this week we have the eternal banger Don’t You Worry Child, by Swedish House Mafia. Arguably one of the best EDM tracks ever produced this is the perfect balance between hype, comfort and nostalgia to sail into the long weekend with (don’t you worry, don’t you worry child, see heaven’s got a plan for you).
I hope you have a nice break, wherever you, are and we’ll see you next week.
